Miss Representation (2011)

“There has been a lot of effort to demonize the word ‘feminist.’ I think that being a feminist means that you see the world whole instead of half. It shouldn’t need a name and one day it won’t.
Feminism starts out being very simple, it starts out being the instinct of the little child who says “it’s not fair” and “you are not the boss of me.”
It’s something in us who knows that. And it ends up being a worldview that questions hierarchy altogether.” -Gloria Steinem

Immortals (2011)

As I was watching it the style reminded me of something else so after checking IMDB it all made sense.
It’s  from Tarsem Singh, the same director of The Cell

and The Fall

who brings his particular visuals to the movie.
Immortals  shares the same highly stylized world design of his previous work that in my humble opinion is very suited for this Greek mythological fantasy.

Even with his tendency to show almost everyone with the silliest hat possible (the silliest , the more powerful) , his pantheon of gods makes more sense to me that the recent alternatives.

Another thing I liked was the actions sequences (very reminiscent of  300)

The downside for me is the story, nothing new here but just enough to enjoy the visuals and action set pieces of the film.
Bottom line, I like it.
